Frequently asked questions
Here are answers to common plumbing questions from homes and businesses around Beavercreek and Dayton.
Services
What should I do if a pipe bursts or I have a major leak?
Shut off your main water valve first. It's usually where the water line enters the house, often in the basement or near the water heater. If water is near outlets or appliances, turn off power to that area, then open a faucet to drain the lines. Call us at 937-426-6901, because we try to remain available around the clock for emergencies.
How do I know if my water heater needs repair or replacement?
Problems like no hot water, a faulty thermostat or a bad heating element can often be repaired. Water leaking from the tank itself, rusty hot water, or loud rumbling from sediment buildup usually point toward replacement. We'll diagnose the unit and tell you which option makes sense. Read more on our water heater service.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
Hair and soap buildup are the usual cause in bathroom drains. In kitchens, it's usually grease and food scraps. If several drains are slow at once, or you hear gurgling, the blockage may be further down in the main line or sewer. In that case, plunging won't solve it, and you'll need drain cleaning.
Do you handle sewer line problems and backups?
Yes. We clear clogged drains and sewer backups, and we do sewer line repairs. Warning signs include several fixtures backing up at once, a sewage smell, or water coming up through a basement floor drain. If you have a backup now, stop running water in the house and call us.
Why does my sump pump run constantly, or not at all?
A pump that runs nonstop may be keeping up with a high water table during heavy spring rain. It could also have a stuck float switch or a failed check valve that lets water flow back into the pit. A pump that won't run at all may be unplugged, on a tripped breaker, stuck at the float, or burned out. You can test it by pouring a bucket of water into the pit, and if it needs replacing, we handle sump pump installations.
Do you work on private wells and well pumps?
Yes. We do well pump installation and repair, pressure tank maintenance and water testing, and we handle emergency calls on well systems too. See our water well and pump services.
Do you do plumbing for new construction and remodels?
Yes. We outfit new builds, relocate pipes, upgrade fixtures and install new fixtures during remodels. We make sure the work meets code requirements. See our construction and remodel plumbing service.
